Primal Rage

Primal Rage (1988)
Director: Vittorio Rambaldi
Starring: Patrick Lowe, Cheryl Arutt, Bo Svenson
Rating: 2.5/5

"This blood-soaked, stomach-churningly gory Italian horror outing is set on a college campus in Miami and chronicles the grisly aftermath that occurs w
hen a student is bitten by a laboratory baboon and turns into a voracious, man-killing beast."

Comments: Forgotten and somewhat forgettable horror flick directed by Vittorio Rambaldi (and written by Umberto Lenzi). Worth checking out for fans of terrible acting and mindless gore. Other than that there's not much to see here.

El Barón del Terror

El Barón del Terror (1961)
Director: Chano Urueta
Starring: Abel Salazar, Ariadna Welter, David Silva, Germán Robles, Luis Aragón
Rating: 4/5

"The year is 1661. Baron Vitelius (Abel Salazar) stands accused of consorting with the devil. The penalty: death. Cursing his inquisitors as they burn him at the stake, the Baron’s revenge comes 300 years later, in the form of a horrifying fork-tongued incarnation of the Baron, hellbent on devouring the brains of the descendents of those who killed him. As bodies pile up, the police become mystified. Who is draining the skulls of local call-girls and well-to-do banquet-goers alike? And, more importantly, how many flamethrowers will it take to stop him?"

Comments: A completely bizarre entry in early Mexican horror cinema. The films creepy atmosphere more than makes up for the goofy special effects and poor acting. Recommended for anyone who loves a lot of cheese with their movies.

Warlords Of The 21st Century

Warlords Of The 21st Century aka Battletruck (1982)
Director: Harley Cokliss
Starring: Michael Beck, Annie McEnroe, James Wainwright
Rating: 3.5/5

"After the Oil Wars, gasoline has become a precious commodity. On his marauding search to commandeer all of the oil in existence to feed his massive, heavily armored battletruck, Colonel Straker (James Wainwright) ravages a peaceful commune. A mysterious man on a motorcycle (Michael Beck, ) comes to the aid of these peaceful people to help protect them and take down Straker, with the help of his runaway daughter. Also released under the alternate title Warlords Of The Twenty-First Century, BattleTruck costars Bruno Lawrence ( The Quiet Earth), Annie McEnroe ( Beetle Juice, Wall Street) and John Ratzenberger ( Cheers, Toy Story). The films cinematographer, Chris Menges, went on to shoot The Killing Fields, The Mission and The Reader."

Comments: An effective low budget cash-grab on the Mad Max flicks. Not much action but Wainwrights performance as Col. Straker was enough to hold my attention.
